Civitella dei Conti
Villa belonging to the castle of Montegiove, transformed into a castle, probably in the 14th century. Property of the Fodivoli, the castle was fortified during the XIV century and was the subject of contention in the struggles between the factions of the Monaldeschi of Orvieto. Possession for many years of the counts of Marsciano who granted him the statutes of 1529, it passed definitively to Orvieto. Feud of the Saracinelli up to the 18th century, it was under Marsciano at the time of Napoleon, then, with the reform of Pius VII, it became hamlet of San Venanzo. Of the ancient castle, now privately owned, it is possible to observe the tower, from which you can enjoy a beautiful panorama, the perimeter walls, the church and the underground prisons. The parish church has two 18th century altarpieces and a copy of the Archangel Michael by Reni.
