The protected natural area (S.T.I.N.A.) will be the protagonist of the 4th stage of Monte Peglia Trekking scheduled for Sunday 4th October. The program of excursions to discover the territory of Monte Peglia continues, organized by the Municipal Administration together with local associations. Compared to the summer stages, Monte Peglia Trekking is designed for expert hikers: in fact, the walks have a lenght that varies, over 8km, on paths with medium-high difficulty. It is recommended to well assess one’s own resistance for participating.
4th STAGE: “Discovering the natural area of Elmo di Melonta” – 8.5 km ring route on ancient mule-tracks and dirt roads within the protected natural area of Elmo-Melonta.
The route starts near Mulino del Fruga, going down to the Chiani river we will be able to admire the beautiful views of the Elmo wood. Then a 3.5 km climb with 350 meters of altitude difference will begin, to reach the Melonta farm. Through a mule track immersed in the woods (downhill) we will finally return to the starting point.

EXCURSION DURATION: about 3.5 hours including stops
DIFFICULTY: Challenging excursion, trekking shoes strongly recommended: the excursion takes place on well-trodden paths and mule tracks. Length km. 8.5. Its length makes it a trekking of medium length and duration, suitable for sufficiently trained people.
NECESSARY CLOTHING: Trekking shoes with comfortable clothing, k-way or cape.
PARTICIPATION FEES: € 3.00 adults – free for children under 6.
